Brief Biograpy on Atiku Abubakar

Atiku Abubakar was born in Adamawa on November 25, 1946 to a Fulani parents. Atiku Abubakar’s father was a farmer while his mother was a trader. Although, his father was not in support of his son having western education, he had to because of the stringent rule on education that was in existence then. He lost his father at age 11 and his mum, much later, at 38.

Atiku Abubakar’s wealth started when he out ventured into real estate business as a Customs Officer during the early days. By 1974, he applied for a loan of N31,000, which was used to build his first house in Yola, which he later rented. It was from the proceeds of the rent, he purchased another land, and built his second house. He did this for a while, making Atiku Abubakar houses spread round Yola. He also acquired 2,500 hectares of land for starting up a maize and cotton farm. In 1986, the business collapsed in 1986.

He went into a buying and selling of rice, sugar and flour. He had a very a good business relationship with the Aliko Dangote, the richest man in Africa and Nigeria. His most wealth came when he established a company NICOTES which was changed to INTELS

Adama beverage manufacturing plant in Yola, as well as an animal feed factory is currently owned by Atiku. In 2005 he established his American University of Nigeria (AUN), which is the first American-style University in Nigeria to be established in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Atiku Abubakar popularity began when he was vice president of Nigeria during the democratic reign of Olusegun Obasanjo for eight years between May 1999 and May 2007.

    What is your criteria of assessing the net worth of the individuals?. I do know that Atiku Abubakar was elected as the Governor of Adamawa State before his emergence as vice president of Nigeria. All the same, l commend you for the effort.
