This post contains the biography and profile of Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, the current minister of transportation in Nigeria and former governor of Rivers State.
Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, was born May 27, 1965. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi attended St. Theresa’s Primary School,
Ubima. He then proceeded to Okolobiri School where he had his secondary education. After his secondary education, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi proceeded to the University of Port Harcourt, Choba, Portharcourt, Rivers State where he obtained both his Bachelors and Masters Degree in English Language.
Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi was elected a Legislator, to represent Ikwerre Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly in 1999, as a victorious lawmaker in the elections of 1999, he was elected to serve as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In October 2007, He contested and won the governorship election in Rivers State. He was actually declared winner a long time after due to a serious long-running battle with his political opponent at the election petitions tribunal. In April 2011, he re-contested and was re-elected governor for a second term.
Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi has been known to court controversy after his famous defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), and also, his long standing battle with the former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan for supremacy in the South-South.
In the year 2015, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi was appointed the Minister of Transportation by the incumbent President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.
