Mesut Ozil has won an award today, as he’s been crowned the 2015 German National Team Player of the Year.

The title was voted by fans and the Arsenal man claimed 45.9 percent of the vote.

According to the German national team website, over 51,000 fans voted for the midfield magician.

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller came second pooling 15.9 percent of the votes. Meanwhile, something of a surprise, Cologne’s 25 years Old left back Jonas Hector, who has 10 caps for Germany, ranked third with as little as 13.6 percent of the vote.

Mesut Ozil played in eight of Germany’s nine international matches in 2015. The Gunners star had 14 shots for Germany in 2015 while he laid claim to six assists in 8 games too.

Interestingly, this is the third time in four years Ozil has won the award. He won it in 2011,2012 and 2013 as well.
